The Office of Research Affairs of Haramaya University invites staff members of the university to submit small/medium-scale research projects under four Research Grant categories. The grants are intended to fund research projects with researchable ideas that realistically can be completed in two years and require limited levels of funding.
Office of Research Affairs wishes to announce the 2022/2023 PhD dissertation research support for HU PhD students enrolled at one of the colleges/institutes of the University. It is a competitive research grant and vetted through merit-based and peer-reviewed processes.

To differentiate universities along with certain areas of specialization, Ministry of Education selected Haramaya University as one of the research universities in Ethiopia.

Seed Inspection
Quality certified seed is the starting point to a successful crop and livestock feed production as well as an important risk management tool. Haramaya University, delegated by Oromia BoA provides seed inspection and certification services in east and west Hararghe zones of Oromia Regional State for all seed producers.

facts & figures
The University has developed and released more than 140 high yielding crop varieties over the last six decades. The technologies and knowledge generated have been disseminated through farmers training centers and farm demonstrations by increasing the number of partnerships with local, national, and international stakeholders.
The university has produced over 160 books and research bulletins, and more than 60 book chapters and annually publishing thousands of research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
The university also publishes the nationally accredited East African Journal of Sciences, Haramaya Law Review, East African Journal of Health and Biomedical Sciences, East African Journal Social Sciences Humanities, and East African Journal of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Annual Research Review Workshop Proceedings.

Research Grant Management system
Haramaya University Research Grant Management System allows a research office to eliminate the work delay, facilitate the review process, minimize wastage of resource (save time & cost), minimize loss of documents, improve administrative reporting, improve response time, facilitate the research grant application process and improve the flow of information among research communities. The system also able to make the easy way of proposal submission, track any updates and status of submitted research proposals, notifications for any updates, easy reporting, and review process. With the use of a system, research office can be able to manage the overall flow of proposal submission to final research reporting activities in a more organized manner.
