The director provides seed inspection and certification for seed producers in East and West Hararghe Zones. The HU-SICC is structurally accountable to the university and functionally linked to the regional regulatory body.
DIRECTOR for SEED INSPECTION AND CERTIFICATION CENTER (SICC)
The University serves as a host to the center and provides finance, administrative and logistics supports. The center shall be administratively accountable to the Office of the Vice President for Research affairs and shall technically be linked to the Oromia Bureau of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The director shall perform, among others, the following major duties:
- Provides field inspection, seed quality testing, and certification service to producers and processors.
- Coordinate capacity-building and strengthening activities related to seed quality assurance.
- Facilitates stakeholder dialogue on seed law, standard and regulations.
- Promotes good practices and innovations for quality seed production, processing, storage, and distribution
- Create linkage with seed value chain actors and support services for knowledge and resource exchange.
